My husband and I fell a little behind on our mortgage with Citi Residential Lending. We were proactive and contacted them and spoke to a credit counselor who assured us that they could help us. They needed a payment and wanted us to send some financial information via fax to them and they would defer one months payment putting us only one behind. We faxed the information as we were told to do and received a letter a week or so later saying that our situation was being reviewed and they would get back to us.
We were also told that they would take any payment we could make even a partial payment. A few weeks went on and we hadn't heard anything (which was unusual considering that they call us every day when we are late on a payment).
My husband had been trying to call them to set up a partial payment and could never get through to speak to a human and when we tried to make a payment online it wouldn't take a partial payment.
Now here we are two months later and can't get in contact with Citi being concerned we started to do some research and came across your website. It shocked us when we read story after story about situation that were exactly the same as ours except the end result was families lost their homes.
We are scared and don't know what to do. We don't want to lose the home we have been in for the past ten years, yet we are unable to make any payment to Citi which puts us further into a bad situation.
Please advise.
