I wanted to repot a very bad practice from Potamkin South Hyundai.
On August 09 the company was advertising a car on the internet for $6,991 - 2003 Ford Expedition, which happened to call my attention. Doing a little bit more of research I found the same truck listed on another website.
I made a couple of phone calls and I spoke to a contact person, named Don, Internet Sales Manager (305) 910-1454 Chit-chat with him a couple of times and he told me the car was available and YES that was the correct price.
2pm
My wife and I end up driving 60 miles to go see the car in South Miami.
The guy (s) at the dealership were very friendly and they knew who we were.
Kind of strange... (?)
3pm
Anyway before looking at the car, we finally met Don, and we asked him why the car was so cheap, He explained to us the car has been sitting on the lot for over 2 month, so that why the price was discounted. The car even had spider webs on the 2nd and 3rd sit. He gave us the car keys and walked away, saying he will meet us inside.
We took the car for a spin and we liked it allot, but it had 2 minor things that needed to be fixed. One was the passenger sit motor did not work, so my wife could not move the sit forward to reach the pedals and 2nd one; the wheels were making a loud noise.
After we parked the car, we noticed that Don was gone. They called him up, I called him at his number, but all we got was his voicemail. Very strange.
Then Bernie approached us and offered help with the paper work.
After 15 minutes of waiting another guy by the name of Douglas came; and he said the car had the wrong price. Even thought it was advertised on the internet for $6,991, and Don was gone for the day... So they could not honor us the price.
4pm.
At this point we knew Don was out of the picture, even though he told us this whole story why the car was so cheap... But Bernie wanted us "to negotiate" the original price to $8,300 plus $799 on dealer fees, $300 on tag charges and $600 on taxes.
We did not wanted to pay the price they came up with and we demanded to talk to the manager.
There was no manager around, not only that but just the way Bernie approached us was just completely wrong. They guy was rude like he knew all this was going to happen.
He said, the car made that noise because it has new tires, and after we did not want to pay the original price, he offered us to fix the tires, and that's when my wife told him, so the tires are not new then?
We walked out very upset, as they just did not want to honor the price listed on the Web site.
5pm
20 minutes later we realized we never got my wife license and car insurance back from Bernie; we had to come back to get them and to make our experience less pleasant; the manager told us Bernie took them with him before going home (?) and that he will be bring it back in 20 minutes. Another strange episode.
While waiting for Bernie; we had chance to speak to the manager; but he told us he was sorry; there was nothing he could do for us. Don and Bernie were gone for the day and somebody had made a mistake and he is going to try to contact that person (?) so he can fix it...
I guess he was referring to the person who entered the wrong on 2 different websites.
6pm
We had just wasted our afternoon and my wife and I were just upset of how these guys pulled this off and nobody was there to help.
The experience could not have gone any worst with this group, everything seemed so planned out. Very unprofessional, Bernie is defiantly NOT a person they should keep around having to talk to potential clients and not only that; we never got to talk to the guy who got us into all this since the begin... The Internet Sales Manager.
