Remax of Naperville
Not a Good Place to List Your Home

I was on the internet researching home prices in Schaumburg IL where I live with my husband in order to get an idea of what prices were so we can come to a reasonable price to list our home for sale. Bernie Cobb Jr. Listed one of the homes I looked at and was able to track me and called my home the next day to ask if we were interested in looking at that home whos site I was on. I tols him no, that I was just researching price in order to sell our home. He then said he could list our home. I told him he can come by after I got off work if he liked and we can look at his offer. He couldn't find time to come by after I got home so I told him it was ok if he came during the day to talk to my husband who is 86 years old and leave his material and when I got home my husband & I would talk it over and let him know if we wanted to list our home with his agency. Bernie came over a few days later well I was at work. When I got home my husband said he was fast talked into signing a listing contract for our home and when he told Bernie that I wasn't there to sign anything he just said it is fine to sign for me! Aday or so later when I came home from work I saw that the "For Sale" sign was up and only then did I notice that Remax was in Naperville about 40 minutes from our home. I was upset and called Bernie and told him I wasnted to transfer the contract to a local Remax and he told me "It doesn't work that way." Well, first of all I never signed that contract only my husband signed it for him and me. Secondly, my husband is 86 years old and suffered an illness 3 years ago which left him with nerve damage that effects his balance, damaged his hearing and slowed his thought process. Since we have had this listing with Remax of Naperville they have not sent one potential buyer to us from that office and it has been 2 monthes. I called Remaxes corporate office to complain and spoke to several people and they refered me to an office in Elgin who refered me to the broker who refered me to an assistant broker who had Bernie call us once again to tell us we couldn't cancel the contract. I have even gone to they're office with my husband to see the broker who wasn't in so I left a message with a girl named Karen who said she would have him call us but only Bernie Cobb Jr. Called. I feel that he tricked my husband in to signing a contract that neither one of us if I were present at the time would have signed. The only time he has called since listing our house is after 3 or 4 calls to his office from me. He just wanted the listing on his books and hope another agency close to our home would do all the work in selling our home. I asked him if we can do an open house and he said they never bring buyers! I am not happy at all with the way Remax treats customers and want to list my home with a more customer focused company. Right now all we are doing is wasting precious time with this company. We have not even had a showing at our home in over a month now. That I would say is uncalled for.
