Pasta Pasta in Port Jefferson, NY Upon moving to the area, I was actually interested in working at this place. I am an experienced server, and my husband is a chef, so we dined there last week to "scope it out". What a huge disappointment! I grew up in this area and always knew of this place as busy, busy, busy! Of course, it would lead one to believe that this could only mean the food and service are amazing... Well, I don't know what it may have been like in the past, but our experience was down-right awful. A few suggestions... Tell your server to relax. (the gentleman with the accent and dark hair) There's a HUGE difference between confidence and cockiness my man! And it is a big no-no to serve food while juggling 6 DIRTY glasses in your other hand! Oh, one more thing, (I learned this in serving 101), always, ALWAYS check back after the first bite! You didn't check back EVER!!! It truly sucks when your server does his three tasks... Takes order, drops food, drops check. Sorry, but you kinda blew it on a really great tip. So we truly wished you had checked back to see how the food was, because it pretty much sucked. Does anyone in the kitchen actually TASTE what they are putting in the window? Not only lack of salt in every single thing we ate, but holy scorched oil! The spinach in our friend's dish tasted like burnt sautee pan and ruined the entire meal. You also put crimini mushrooms in your porcini tortellini dish, yeah, we noticed. Wow, wish I had more room. Step it up ya'll. Great location and ambiance won't keep you in business when you have crappy food and service. Oh... And tell those boys to clean the kitchen. I went to the bathroom and peaked in the window and was completely appalled! The top of the pizza oven (was it?) is disgusting! Sorry, but we won't ever be returning.
