The letter and check arrived in mail with no return address. At first it looked like regular junk mail. The letter from United Financials stated I was the lucky winner of an unclaimed price money of $57,000. A check of $3,948.30 was enclosed and was issued by United Healthcare Corp. The letter instructed me to call my agent, Lucinda Johnson ASAP with my secured claim Number.
The letter mentioned participants were drawn from Reader Digest, Publishers Clearing House, etc. What made me suspicious was the typo in the city line of my address on the letter and the check. The error was "SAN FRANCISCCA". And why would a check need to be activated? Of course, I checked out United Financials on the internet before called a long distance number. Any there's no way I would have send anyone any money to claim a prize. Oh yeah, they can't spell - "... Unclaimed price money".
