False and misleading interest rates from united hyundai

I spent 6 hours at the United Hyundai Dealership in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday after I received a letter in the mail about test driving and then giving them feedback on a Hyundai, and for your time, you would receive $200.00 in Free Gas. Although, in the letter I noticed an asterick, but it didn't match any of the text on the letter, I still went down to the dealership (I have already owned 4 other Hyundai's) as I would be a perfect candidate to offer an opinion. After all was said and done, I actually had to ask for the gas certificate and found out that it is a sham too, as you have to pay $5.99 and get involved in a program to get your free gas for every dollar you spend at participating stores... So much for the time and expense of me filling out the paperwork and my own gas getting there.

ALSO, if that wasn't bad enough, what was about to transpire that afternoon was a nightmare (although at the time it all looked great on paper) and I ended up negotiating for a car.

After 6 hours with not so much as asking me if I would like a water (I bought one for $. 75 and the salesman didn't seem like he knew much about negotiating) the bald headed, rude, obnoxious and overbearing sales manager came to the table with his "gotta make our sales quota, " and hounded me for two hours to no end until I finally gave in with his promising "7%" interest, no money down and only $268.00 a month which was in my budget. So, since I thought that this would be a great deal and the car payment affordable, I signed on the dotted line with a clause between the salesmen and myself and husband that this would not be a binidng contract until Monday if the financing didn't go through.

On Monday afternoon I called the dealership to confirm that I would be going with their financing because my bank couldn't offer me that good of a deal. The sales manager told me that I just needed to come into the dealership to finalize the paperwork. At that time, I met with him who told me that they couldn't get me financing at 7%, but rather it would now be 11%. After another long conversation, they said I should go to my credit union to see if I could work out the numbers with them.

After all was said and done, and the price was still too high, I asked the manager if they would work with me on this, the answer was still 11% and no reduction in the cost of the car, that they had already done what they could do.

On Wednesday, I decided to shop around and look for another car. I found one below MSRP with all kinds of options and that included tax, and fees at Planet Hyundai and bought it, thinking that the deal had already gone sour and United wouldn't budge on their price or %.

I needed to drop off the car, and proceeded to do so. After 1.5 hours and a long list of questions, the finance guy told me that I know owned two cars, that he could have gotten me the 7% interest rate. The two remaining "Sales Managers" and Finance manager spoke to me as if I were now the bad guy, called me so much as a liar and supported what the sales manager did in this negotiating scheme without even a blink... How do they sleep at night! They tried the "double up" on the pitch pressure.

Well, I left the car in the service dept that day and left.

In the meantime I had to put the car on my auto insurance, and am now paying for insurance on the car that is still sitting on their lot. They told me that I am still responsible for it for 15 days until they can find the 7% financing and if anything happened to the car it was not their problem. I still couldn't believe what I was hearing. It is now the following Saturday and I am still paying for the car on the lot.

They called me in on Thursday and told me that had another deal for 9.19%. They assured me that I needed to sign another contract and the deal would give me the same payments. They did the deal with Wells Fargo. I told them I would think about it and left. They knew they could never get me 7% interest rate that they said they would find.in fact, the sales manager is so determined not to lose this deal that he now told me that he would be calling in some favors from the banks (just to spite me I'm sure) for the 7% interest rate so I would now be responsible for two auto loans. What I don't understand is how these dealerships can get away with this crap. They are using Saturdays as leverage to their sales bull and if you take the car, you're screwed in Nevada. No recinding for the comsumer, just the dealership. What kind of bull is that! I would not have wasted 22 hours of my time if I wasn't a loyal customer to Hyundai and it's too bad that these powerhouse, fast talkers and liars (in the financial end ot it) can tell you what you want to hear. And the funny thing is that they even stated that to me when they tried to get me to take the 9.19% rate and re-sign a new contract!

They should be responsible for my time, it's worth something too! And what about the insurance I am still paying for on the car 7 days later and still not knowing what is going to happen to that car.

I will keep you posted on the outcome of my situation with United Hyundai and if they keep up these tactics. They sure won't be in business long with lies and after lies. They know what they can and can't do about financing when they pull your credit report. These are new owners (they used to be called Metro Hyundai) and that is no way to keep customers coming back. Las Vegas is a smaller town than anyone thinks and it takes good businesses and people to keep this transient town honest... Too bad that this dealership has people like them and their sales managers who are scare tactics specialists!

I am still not done with this situation and I will keep you posted on the outcome.
