Bought wedding dress for my daughter and took it to get altered at the Wedding Plaza. They charged me $435 and wanted it in cash. First I gave them a deposit for $200 w/visa card. Balance only can be paid in cash. Would not take the entire amount w/Visa Card.
My daughter went for 3 fittings. The second fitting (Carmela the seamstress) snapped a pin and cut my daughters ankle, got blood on the dress and never said she was sorry. Carmela said don't worry we can use a wet wipe to get it off. Of course there was still blood on the dress when we went the 3rd time. The 3rd time was suppose to be the final fitting.
Carmela, flustered and annoyed that she was already overbooked was not happy that my daughter was complaining that the gown was already to short. Carmela stated buy lower heals. The hook was loose on the back of the gown and bra was showing. I told her that it needed to be fixed along with a snap for the beaded work over the zipper. The bustle was not finished. Carmela couldn't even find her own hook & eye under the dress. Carmela expected me to pay for the dress while another seamstress finished working on it so we can take it home.
2 3/4 hours later I insisted I will pick it up tomorrow because we were late for the finalization for the reception. The next day, I called and Carmela was rude, unprofessional, claimed if we did not pick the dress up that day they had no room for it. Also, my daughter did not have to try it on because it was steamed and if she did they would not steam it again. My daughter canceled her early intervention session, lost $175 for work and we went to the Plaza. The dress was not upstairs. We spoke with the owner (Rob) and got nowhere. They did a terrible job on her dress. I have pictures. Took it to another seamstress this past Saturday and they fixed it for less than what I owed. I did not pay the difference at the Wedding Plaza. We walked out with the gown. I also filed a report with the Better Business Bureau.
