I received an XM Radio as a gift and pre-paid for a year of service. I was notified by email after the first year it was time to renew. I was moving and doing other things at this time and chose not to respond, thinking if I didnt renew, my account would be terminated.
A year later (after expiration) I wanted to re-start my service. I am now being told that because I DIDNT CALL AND EXPLICITY CANCEL I was billed for three months (which I never had service) then dropped, so if I want to re-activate - I would need to pay the three months I supposedly recvd service (33 dollars). NO WAY! (I could buy a NEW unit for 19.00, open a new account and that would be that.)
I asked them to send me documentation proving my unit recvd signals from them for three months - the phone went silent - EXACTLY. They cannot prove that I recvd signal so as far as I am concerned, the burden is on them, because I can prove I didnt use it! It was in a storage bin! The call center was in the Phillipines and the call people were RUDE and nasty.
In any case, I would hope that the FTC would consider this when they allow XM Radio to merge with Sirius because america will NOW no longer have a choice.
I refuse to support a company that has deceptive practices and sends their support call center OVER SEAS. UNAMERICAN and these are the companies that destroy America.
Do not support these people!!!
