Target Visa
Keeps large check payments because "You borroed it so the money in your checking account is actually ours"

Dear CEO of Target Visa,
I owed you $10,000 on my Visa credit card for a few months. I have had this card for appr. Two years and was never a day late. I believe I started with a $500.00 creditline due to my young age. I paid extra, monthly. Last Thursday 6/9/08 I mailed a check for $9,000 to bring down the balance from $9,900.00 to $900.00. I checked to see if the money was taken out of my bank account at the beginning of this week. It was. Today, I wanted to charge on this same Visa. (A rental car for appr. $117.00). The transaction could not be completed due to the fact that "I was over my limit". I called Visa. Log song and dance. I did not have time to argue as I had to go to work and said I would call later. Your good people extended my limit by $2.00, but "only this time". I charged the car. Accordng to your company that left me with a $5.00 credit limit, not $9,000. Go figure.

I called tonight. Talked to Tracy Z D5611, a supervisor. She informed me that I was not credited with the $9,000 check payment last week or this week she tried another! She, a supervisor, who I am sure fills other ears with this preposterous information told me that the crediting of my account or the non crediting of my account should really not be my concern because I "borrowed the money from Visa so the money in my checking account is not really mine, it is Visa's to begin with! Visa can do with it as it pleases". I couldn't believe my ears. She refused to give me a supervisor, citing she is one and there will be no other there until next week but repeatedly refused to give me her name. Because I may be "laundering money". Huh? You did not check my criminal record BEFORE you gave me the card? I don't have one, never did, but maybe everyone who has $9,000 stashed away is a criminal! I pay my debt on time and Visa Target accuses me of being a criminal. Amazing! I took exception to that logic, since you took the money OUT of my checking account immediately, and since you already had it floating somewhere in the company making interest for you, why would money laundering would be a problem? What you are saying is that this laundered money is ok to have floatig in the company but too illegal to have it credit my account! If that is not what she meant, please explain. She said you would keep it for 15 days. You not only depleted my account at the bank, you refused to have me charge on Visa because I paid on time with immediate cash funds too high to satisfy a debt that apparently was not too high to lend me?

I guess she could not get anywhere with that nonsense, so

Mr. Ceo. What your employees are doing and saying to us, the consumers, is not only nonsense but unethical and most likely illegal. For your information, my checking account and what goes into it or out of it is none of your employees business. I resent the explanation. These are your supervisors dealing with the public? I wanted to know why my $9,000 was not properly credited. I also asked her to show me the law of what she was quoting and she said "read your statement!".
