Preferred Relocation
Con men, liars, purposely damaged my fragile items. Class action lawsuit needed

Im writing this letter in regards to a move that I made during 6/04/08-6/12/08 from TX to NY. Before I begin, I would like to say that I am not new to moving with moving companies. I have moved my items 4 times prior to this one with hardly any problems in regards to final price, handling of goods, customer service, honesty and estimates. I state this in advance because what Im about to say will shock you.

First of all, I didn't want to use a moving company to transport my goods, but since I'm a girl and I don't know how to transport the goods on my own I decided to get professional help. The price was of less concern than the quality of service for me, so I decided to go with a BBB moving company with a A or B rating, so I chose Nationwide Relocation Services. I had no problems with this brokerage company, I have a problem with the subcontractors Preferred Relocation Inc.

Preferred relocation company from day 1 was rude to me on the phone, but I let that slide. I was told that my movers would be in to pick up my goods 6/04/08 or 6/05/08. I get a call from Preferred relocation a couple of days prior to the 4th telling me that the move will take place on the 4th in the afternoon. I said ok, but I reminded them that I had to be to work at 7pm and that it was important for the movers to be done before 7pm.

Anyway, the 4th comes and I get a call from the dispatcher at 10:30am that the movers are in Corpus Christi, TX (2 hours away) and that they will be there between 12-3pm then he said till 5pm I said ok and reminded him that I had to be to work at 7pm because Im the only one taking care of my local hospital department at night. The movers didn't show up till 6pm, 1 hour late! Then they proceeded to make me fill out all of these forms stating that they wont be held liable for damages to my property and my landlords property of course I didn't sign because i had no legal right to waive responsibility. They said I was being difficult. I told them they run their business like their mafioso!!!

Anyway, they proceeded to move my things extremely slow. There were 2 of them, but only one guy was moving my things and I had to be to work at 7pm! It took them 3 hours 15 minutes to move my small 1 bedroom apt which everything was packed taped and half of it place on the 1st floor for their convenience (i had 2 Mexicans move it several times before to my other apts in 2.5 hours and that included loading driving and unloading of my goods up 1 flight of stairs and disassembling and reassembling my sleigh bed, washer and dryer)

Before they left they told me that i would have to pay 50 dollars for tape supplies of which i didn't ask them to tape the blankets to my goods but whatever and an extra 250-300 dollars for a shuttle fee!!! Because i was moving back to NY. I told them I would speak to the brokerage company about that because it should've been added to the initial estimate. They also damaged the back of my car taking out the rims that I had in my car trunk. (I took pictures and filed a claim with the brokerage company the next day)

The day prior to the Drop off day I was called by the brokerage company and was told that my estimate price was $233 more because of the extra weight. I asked the brokerage company for a reweigh and they said it could be done free of charge, so later on preferred relocation called and tried to persuade me from reweighing my items stating that I would have to come to the company and view the reweigh and that it would cost 100 dollars and 5 extra days to receive my goods. I told them the brokerage company said it was free he then went on to tell me that he was willing to waive part of the fee cause it would cost him money and it would cost me money to go down there, so i agreed with $120 deducted from the final price.

Then he proceeded to tell me that there was a tariff tax for moving my goods to a storage facility and I told him that he was a liar and that the tax should've been added to my estimate in the first place because i initially told them i was moving it to a storage facility.

Moving day, the movers come 30 min early and refuse to unload my goods until they get their money first and rightly so because they unloaded a van full of mostly damaged items. Every box marked fragile looked like it was kicked in. There were holes in the boxes and the items were shattered. They were clearly marked fragile this end up and in the van they were situated on their sides. I took pictures and called the police and had them come over while they were unloading and filed a police report.

I'm filing my claims with the brokerage company and im reporting them to the better business bureau. If any lawyers are interested in this case please contact me.
