On June 12,2002 I contacted Classic Movers, who turned out to really be Elite Relocation Services for a last minute move. They came promptly, gave me an estimate of 10,000 pounds of house hold goods, packed and transported all our goods to their facility in Hollis NY. One week later, after arriving in Florida, with our goods in storage in Hollis N. Y., I was given a new weight of 13,349 pounds. Our mover told us it was much heavier than it looked. Much heavier and much more expensive.
On August 17,2002 our furniture finally arrived. Now it weighed 13500 lbs. And six boxes were missing. I gained weight and lost boxes. That's Magic! What's worse is the filth and damage. My stuff was stored in a filthy basement in Hollis Queens. Almost everything was damaged. Smashed, bashed, dropped and busted. The movers tracked black soot into my new home until I ordered them out to stack my things in the garage. Because of it being a last minute move Elite told me I could not get insurance. Now they send me a claim form that Must be notorized, with a bill of Lading (I have no bill of lading), original receipts (yeah right, on things I bought years ago)
and three (yes 3) written estimates of damage to each item. They clearly want to make it hard to collect.
