Reliance Relocation
Unreliable liars

My fiance and I used Reliance Relocation to move from Indiana to Colorado. We were quoted via email and the phone a price of $0.50/lb. Our agent seemed nice and knowledeable and we decided to go with them because they had one of the best quotes and could promise our delivery on 4/20.

The movers were scheduled to come between 10 am and 12 pm on 4/14. We kept calling Reliance to confirm the movers were coming that day and were told by the dispatcher that they were running a bit behind. At 2 P.M. They were still running late, and at 4 P.M. The movers called to say they'd be there within an hour.

The movers arrived at 5 pm, but they were from another company that Reliance had hired, despite the fact Reliance had told us they were not brokers. The movers then tell me that they cannot move our couches and bed without first wrapping them in plastic wrap, a charge of $220 we never agreed to nor were informed of when I had called our agent to see if anything special needed to be done since my fiance and I did the packing ourselves. The blankets and padding included in the quote cost, I was told, were for wooden furniture only and the plastic wrap charges were supposedly on the quote my fiance was sent (but never received).

My mom and I both called Reliance and spoke to Asi, who claimed to be the owner of both Reliance and the company that moved our stuff (which turned out to be a lie). Asi was extremely rude to both me and my mother, shouting at both of us, and blaming us for this whole mess, telling me that I misled them in my inventory list (which I never made - that was done by the agent over the phone) and that I was trying to get my stuff for free. He even asked me if I honestly expected him to move me out to Colorado for the price he quoted me! He tried numerous times to hang up on me, and would not acknowledge my concerns about the charges.

The movers took our stuff, promising to resolve the pricing issues with Reliance. They called us at the weigh station to tell us our stuff weighed a total of 2000 lbs, 1000 lbs under the quote. We had called Reliance earlier in the week to tell them we would not be taking our washer and dryer, and to remove it from the quote. A new quote/pricing were never generated, nor were we ever told there was a price minimum. We were told by Reliance that even though we only had 2000 lbs of stuff, we still had to pay for the 3000 lbs.

By this point both my fiance and I were furious, but we figured we'd figure it out once we got to Colorado. We arrived on the 16th and moved into our apartment on the 17th, eager to get our stuff on the 20th. Of course our stuff never came and when we called the moving company the next day, they said that our stuff was still in a warehouse in Chicago and they didn't know when it would be loaded onto a truck and brought out to Colorado.

We have tried repeatedly to get answers from Reliance, to no avail. The few times we have actually gotten someone to answer the phone, we are told they can't hlep us or we are transferred to someone else who has no answers, either. The moving company still doesn't know when (or if) our things will get here and no one from Reliance answers the phone or calls us back. No one at that sorry excuse for a company will take responsibility for their lies and no one there is willing to work with us to address our concerns.

I have made myself sick over the thought of not getting my belongings back. My fiance and I drove out here with very little and all of our wedding presents are on the moving truck, as is all our furniture and everything but 5 days worth of clothing! We have already paid Reliance $860 and I am not willing to give them a cent more until they tell me where my stuff is! We have filed complaints with the BBB, DOT and Attorney General and will not stop until justice is served! I plan to find every media outlet and will make sure everyone knows just what this company has put us through.

I was looking forward to a new beginning in Colorado and because of Reliance, all I have gotten is heartache and stress. If anyone can help us, we are all ears.
