Peaks Communications or USBI as they are now called, slammed my long distance bill with Verizon (I have unlimited long distance with them) Peaks had no permission, they had a salesperson supposedly from Verizon call and state that I was eligible for lower rates and I stated I already the only low plan they offered, they stateds that because I didn't use my long distance very often I was eligible for an extremely low rate. I informed them they I had dial up interenet and they stated that wouldn't be affected. I told them the # I had to use was long distance again they stated no problem, that wouldn't be affected. Well, well, I get a bill in the mail for almost $400.00 and for guess what? All my internet dial up access. I immediately called Verizon told them my situation, they advised me that they had several complaints about this and that they had never at any time had any employee of theirs calling customers reducing their rates. They then told me to call Peaks which I did, no answer, # disconnected, finally got thru to this usbi place and explained what happened to me and I told them I was reporting them to the FCC and not paying any portion of their bogus billing. I then followed up with a certified letter to them stating the above and in the mail with my verizon bill to day I got a small portion credit from usbi, not acceptable, I am not paying any part of this billing at all from them. I notice many, many reports on this company, is there any legal recourse out there? Any lawsuit going on against these people, they are misrrepresenting themselves as representatives of another telephone company and slamming which is illegal I am told. Can't anyone out there help those of us who have been taken by these people?
