Questionable notice of parts return policy

I recently ordered a 200 dollar front drivetrain yoke for my 2002 Sierra Pickup from Healey Chevrolet. The part was not necessary.

I am posting to complain about Healy Chevrolet's policy of retaining 35 - 40 % of the cost of returned "dealer only" parts as a restocking fee. A policy that is, according to the Parts Manager, a business "standard" and is required because GMC charges Healey Chevrolet the same fee.

The issues are...

1) I ordered the part following the advice of a GMC technical bulletin while on-line and on the phone with a Healey Chevrolet parts employee.

2) The part was not necessary and was returned 2 days later, unopened, with a reciept.

3) Notice of this policy is posted as pertaining to "special oders".in fact it pertains to any of the thousands of parts they don't have in stock. The policy, in fact, pertains to "all orders" not "special orders".

4) I think the employees of Healey Chevrolet have been instructed to misrepresent GMC's parts return policy as it pertains to them.

5) I think the parts department can claim that anything they sell has been "special ordered" and is subject to the 35% restocking fee.

I hope Healey Chevrolet gets sued for this baloney. Some consumer advocate attorney could put a decent claim together, class action or otherwise. While they are at it they should look into those bogus extended warrantees they all sell.
