We thought when we moved into this house that it was a good deal for the rent amount of $475 (3 Bedroom, 1 Bath house). Well, we move in & realize that behind the house is a drainage ditch that causes bugs/mosquitoes/roaches to run crazy. We couldn't get rid of these & spiders, etc. I left a message asking if the landlord had a contract with any local pesk control. No, they didn't have anything like that & they told us to put a bomb in the house... We have 2 small children.
There was a shed in the back yard along with a privacy fence that had a gate right by that shed. Someone was getting through our fence & sleeping in that shed at night. We had to end up getting a dog so to protect our family from whoever this was because nothing was done about the problem. We even had to have a cop come out & check everything out due to this person being in there until daylight & then, I assume, jumping the fence in a hurry to get away from the dog & swinging the door open so to slam it when he/she ran out.
The toilet constantly ran... We had to shut it off every night in order not to run the water bill up more. Was that fixed, no. Now WE get to pay the almost $300 bill!
We had some issues with a couple financial setbacks that we were unaware was going to happen. Well, the first month this happened, we talked to Yvonne & she said if we didn't have the rent next month then to just move out. More or less a pre-set eviction notice, right? No, we had that second big setback & talked to Jim. We told him what she said & that we would move out. He asked when we'd be out & we said for sure within 2 weeks. He wanted rent for those 2 weeks! Even though it was already said we needed to move previously. Well, we moved most of our stuff & the weekend before the 2 weeks was up (due to no phone & when we got the one message Yvonne left — didn't sound as though she knew anything that was going on, it was late at night to call), they changed the locks, had a For Rent sign already in the yard, left a trash bag full of our shoes on the front porch for anyone, left a lot of our stuff thrown in the nasty shed in the backyard, threw away a lot of our medicines/etc (they all spilled in the bag, so nothing was salvageable)—including the one bottle of children's tylenol we had & needed, took a lot of our stuff that was in the house (so far remembering everything has came to approximately $500, but there is still more we've came up with), & they kept the deposit!
Oh, & when they saw that we came & got all the rest of our stuff, she called our old phone & left a message saying, "Well, if you people have bad luck in the next 3-5 years, you'll know why. You really screwed me over!" We screwed her over? I don't think so. We sent them a letter along with a chart showing everything we had thought of to date that they illegally took/threw away... Did she leave any message at that time (I wrote down when I mailed it, kept copies, etc). Of course not!
