I did a search on the web for pimp my ride, click on a link and was brought to a web page that contained an application. I filled out the application. A page appears in the application process that asks for a credit card number. Prior to filling in this information, I look for reason's on this page why a card would be required. There was some verbiage that said that the card was required to indicate how serious I am as an applicant. I did not notice any information that implied my card would be charged a fee. A couple weeks later after reviewing my card I noticed the charge for $149.00.
I received my congratulations email on 10-31, my card was charged on 11/01. I attempted the resolve it with carsponsors by sending an email requesting a refund and that they remove my personal information from there databases. They refused to refund and did not speak to my request to have my personal information removed from their database.
I disputed the charge with my credit card company and was told that since it was in the terms that is accessible from the website, that there was no recourse other than going to court. We all know how rediculus this is and at the same time how nieve we can be extending trust to complete strangers over the internet. Those who prey on human vice and vulunerability. It was a solid $149.00 lesson along with that knawing feeling of knowing I've been duped.
