I had just landed a job at a great company, and had worked there for a week
and a half. The night before Thanksgiving, I get to work and prepare to get at it. My supervisor comes up and says they can't let me drive tonite. (I'm a
truck driver for 25 years now). I say what's going on?
He says they have a report from a former employer (an email sent late that day), that I had several accidents & other problems while I worked there.
I AM FLOORED! I have a PERFECT driving record for over 25 years. I see on
the supervisors peice of paper the company name... Marshfield Drayage... And
now I get it. I knew this guy was a total ass, but never thought he would
make up lies and email them to a new employer! Apparently this jerk has emailed my new employer a laundry list of outright lies and half-truths about
my time there (only 8 months).
I had quit this guy when he refused to fix equipment that was unsafe, and because he was basically an ass. I saw at least 6 drivers quit while I was there (not counting temps that refused to even drive the trashy equipment).
He was so pissed when I left (he lost a good driver that made him lots of $),
that the next day, the secretary called me in tears. He was so out of control about me leaving, that she quit the next day.
So now, I'm out of a great job with a good company, because of this lying POS. Has anyone else had a similiar experience? How did you deal with it?
Thanks all for listening
