Werner is just out to screw drivers. Yes thay treat you nice unyill you are actually hired and assigned to a truck. Then you might as well grab your ankles and prepare for what is coming your way. There open door policy, what a joke. I always thought that a open door meant you could actually open the door. Well at werner there open door policy means you have to sign up on a list to see anyone.
Then thay will think about getting around to you if you wait at the door so you can get buzzed in if thay decide thay even want to see you or not. Yep, open door policy my ass. I have seen more open doors at any jail than at werner. Thay actually make you wait by the door just like a dog.
I worked at werner on 3 different occasions. The second time i worked there i had to take a emergency leave of absence due to a family illness. Came back to work 6 weeks later, got assigned my truck, only to be terminated the same day due to a wrongful termination from a former employer. I had not worked for anyone in the 6 weeks i was off for a family emergency. Bottom line it had cost me $600.00 to go to there terminal only to have them terminate me for something that was wrong from the get go. I was never allowed out of the yard after being assigned to a truck.
O yea, here we go with there open door b.S. Again. I even showed them legal documentation of the wrongful termination from a former employer. Thay did ask me my side of the story and i was honest with legal proof that it was determined a wrongful termination by a judge. I am no new driver to the industry either. I am a driver with 25 years exp. And no accidents. I have been around the trucking industry for a little while and no dummy either. This just goes to prove that all those big trucking companies are only interested in seing how far you can bend over and grab your ankles.
Thay will give you a RIDE THAT NORMAL PEOPLE DO NOT ENJOY VERY MUCH. Im a die hard trucke. I have since then bought my own truck and doing quite well even with the out of control fuel prices. Truck drivers are in such a high demand you can choose who you want to work for. There are some companies that really do have a open door policy, and guess what, the door really is open.
Werner is just another big company out to see just how hard thay can give it to you in the ass. As a driver you really do have a choice on who you decide to work for. My suggestion to anyone thinking about working for werner would be to check around first unless you happen to like grabbing your ankles and going for a ride. Myself personly i will never have anything stuck up my ass exspecially by a bottom of the barrel trucking company such as werner. And take this little word of advice from me, a open door should open from both sides.
