Got a letter in the mail claiming I won $50,000 as the result of "our monthly Global Draw". They attached a check for $2,962.00 which they called an "assistance check" to help pay for tax and administrative expenses. They want you to cash the check to pay them to help clear your winnings. So, I contacted the bank and found out the check is invalid. The scammers hope you cash the check and send them the money. When the check bounces, you get hit with bank fees and have to pay the money back to the bank.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
