I took a job with RMA in may i thought great new job new project a good start with what seemed like a reputable company and the job offered all of what i was looking for at the time.
I started the training with them without a hitch the middle of may except for when i had to leave one day early due to a court appearance which concerned me a little bit due to if i was convicted of this charge would i lose my job but the charge was dismissed so i didnt have a worry there.
Went to the training the next couple days with no problems until the following wednesday i was having an innocent casual conversation with a female employee in my training class well come to find out by the end of the day she has reported me for harrassment to human resources for supposedly invading her comfort zone-my first thought was what the hell is this shit ive never been reported for talking to a fellow co worker before.
So i talked to the HR people told them my side and said i will damn sure be more cautious of my surrondings around here.
I thought of getting a new job at that point and not coming back to the training but i thought its only been a few days ill give it a shot its only one setback. Well the rest of the training went well and got out of the classroom training and went into floor training.
That went well until 2 weeks later when i had to call out of work 2 times due to a sick child im the father of two and my wife was attending to my son who was ill and looked after my daughter.
I called in as required by there policy and i thought no problem.
They did call me at home one of the days and asked if i would come in i told them i wasnt able to and im sorry.
The second time i called in as required once again and i again thought no problem.
I come to work monday and as i expected i would have to sign some papers saying i was out. Got those and signed them and was told i would know the result of this by the end of the day.
Come the end of the day i get called into the director edie martys office and for lack of a better word she was a total bitch to me from start to finish. I told her that she in no way shape or form can hold this against me.
She said that im a problem for all of my abscences mind you ive missed 2 1/2 days to this point and all for good legitamite reasons and i can document all of them.
I tell her that and ask her who the hell is she to hold being a father against me then she tells me its my responsibility to make sure im at work and i agree with that dont get me wrong but isnt also my responsibility to make sure my kids have care when they need it.
Then i ask her if she is a parent which she is then she tells me she is single yadda yadda and she still comes to work... Her kids are all old enough to care for themselves mine are 19 months and 9 months not exaclty old enough to care for themselves.
She also had the damn nerve to hold that court case over my head which really pissed me off something fierce. I know it was my fault in a way but i was acquitted of the charges so that had nothing to do with it.
She told me that the job is her livelyhood and somehow im disrupting that.
Well if that is how she feels fine thats well and good. I told her this is all crap and she is totally wrong when there are people that call in for the same reasons as me at least once a week regularly and she never terminated them.
They also have the point system there which if you get 12 points they have the option to fire you well i have 4 for the 2 call outs and maybe a total of 1 point for being late once so 5 at the extreme most so by firing me before that point hadnt even been verbally warned or warned in writing just fired.
Edie marty if you read this provided you can read rest assured you and RMA have not heard the end of this im going to file suit on you all for discrimination and violating my civil rights cause that is what you have done you know a simple warning would have been good enough and you know that edie but you had to take it to this level didnt you. Well you wanted it this way you got it.
When im done with this i will own RMA and you will be the first one i show the door so you can know the humiliation i went through telling my family about you and your company.
Dont get too comfy in your job edie you wont have it long. Thanks for listening and if anyone can help me here that would be great
