There was an incident where my son was with another child. The other kid got on his bike, and pulled down a light bulb. He called my son over, and said "here". He handed my son the bulb, and my son felt something "sticky" so he threw it down, breaking the bulb.
A lady next door saw the boys, and recognized my son. She told him to go with her to the office. The office manager (Del) held my son for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, I am frantically looking for him. My son comes back to the apratment, with a man who did not identify himself.
He said my son was caught vandalising property with another unidentified boy. I asked my son who it was, and he told me. I aksed him where the boy was, and he said it was apartment a or b. I asked him if he lived downstairs, he said yes, so it was apartment A. He described the other boy. The lady who
took him to the office also described the boy and the bike.
Several days later I received a termination of lease, because of vandalism [He did not vandalize - read the legal definition].
I asked what about the other boy. The manager (Del) said the other boy was not identified. I told him, my son told you his name, what he was weearing, and which apartment he lived in. I was told "Your son said apartment A or B." I told him Yes, he did
but he also said "downstairs" so it had to be apartment A. Nothing was done to the other boy.
When I went looking for another apartment, I found one, put a deposit on an apartment. I went back the next day, and was told theat my references didn't check out. I demanded to know why, and finally I was told that the La Quinta apartment manger wrote that my son vandalized the property. So I lost the apartment, had to move my stuff to 2 different storage locations to move out of La Quinta before the lease ended...
Much work for me.
The manager held my son against his wishes, and without
my knowledge for 15 minutes. I did contact the police, and they took a report, and went down to talk to him.
They still say we vandalized property. This was not planned, and it happened because the bulb was sticky, my son was not aware of waht happened.
The other boy is still living there, and has had nothing
done against him.
