Complaint / Review
Singer Lazer Storm Vacuum
Ripoff

The infomercial stated "Never have to replace filters" and "buy one get one free" which sounded good, so on August 14 I placed a phone order for 1 Singer Lazer Storm. I thought I would speak to a person but everything was automated, during this order procedure, replacement filters were offered, (what happened to "never have to replace filters"?) I was never given a total amount for my order or even an order number to reference it was very frustrating so the next day (Monday) I called to cancel the order, but was told it was not in the system yet and to call back Wednesday. Which I tried to do but was put on hold for over 40 minutes three times. I then wrote an e-mail canceling the order - I received an automated response stating I would get a reply within 24 hours. I tried to call several times the next day to no avail. I sent another e-mail, canceling the order - another automated reply. I kept calling and finally got to talk to customer service on the following Monday August 22.

She assured me my order was cancelled and would be issued a full credit. I never received an answer to my e-mails. Then on Friday August 26th four vacuum cleaners were delivered!!! To the tune of $393.70 I called immediately - again I was put on hold for over an hour and then disconnected as customer service hours are 9-5 Monday thru Friday. On Monday - August 29th I tried to call all day long and could not get through, started all over on Tuesday August 30, it took about 5 calls before finally getting through a total of about 4 hours on hold. I explained what had happened. The companies response was "the order could not have been cancelled on August 22, because it had already been shipped" that they had no record of the several e-mails I had sent requesting cancelation and the best they could do is to "pick up the 2 extra vacuum cleaners, and if I wanted to pay the return shipping of the other 2 cleaners I would have to pay for it". They said the would issue a call tag to Fed Ex to pick up the 2 cleaners on Friday, September 9th. Fed Ex never arrived.

Today, September 13 after three calls about two hours on hold, I got through and was told the "call tags" were way behind and was assured the vacuum cleaners would be picked up this Friday September 16th. Another day spent waiting. Friday has come and gone - no Fed Ex pickup. Now I can look forward to Monday and more hours on hold.

I have called my credit card company, and they state they can not dispute the charges until the cleaners are picked up and I do not receive a credit. Kind of a catch 22 situation. I am afraid Singer will never pick up these vacuum cleaners, I don't know what recourse I have.
