Earnhardt Hyundai
Ripoff

While looking at Hyundai web site I saw their offer of 0% for sixty months on any new 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, this was March. After checking local Hyundai dealers, Tucson dealers I was only able to locate one at Earnhardt Gilbert. Completed my credit application for Hyundai on line with Earnhardt (have been overwhelmed with junk mail on car loans since). Was approved and contacted by Noah Salmon, internet rep.

Since I live in Sierra Vista, Az, about 220 miles away I sent him email and asked that he give me the sale price on one I wanted and I would come up and purchase. He sent me back an email saying the sell price was $20,000. Hyundai had also offerd a $1750 rebate for current Hyundai owners, I own a Hyundai.

I called Noah back early on March 3 and asked if 20K was price and then i would get my owners rebate. He said yes, we talked about what a good deal. I asked him to hold the car for me and I would be up in about 4 hours. He said they could only hold if I gave them credit card number which I did.

When I arrived the weather was bad in Gilbert, rainy and wind, I quickly looked at car, did not drive, said lets do the deal. Went in and sat in cubical, he said would be right back. Came back plain piece of paper with price of $19879 dollars on it, I thought really good, even less, he then told me that price was with them keeping the rebate. I told him about his promise, he said sorry the sales mgr, George Marley, set the price, he could do nothing. Brought sales mgr in, we argued I told them they were liars and their word was worth nothing.

After about an hour I said they was dishonest people and went out to leave. Unbelievably, after sitting in parking lot for while decided to go back and talk to one of managers about treatment, spoke with hispanic gentleman. He said he would talk with all concerned and get back with me.

In came Noah, George and manager, he said sorry about misunderstanding, even though I had email which said price was 20k Noah had failed to tell me they got rebate. They then offered to help deal by giving my a $700 theft system and $300 finish protection. Stupid me, I accepted. (When I got back home at about 11:30 pm that night I brought all papers in to house, there was the MSRP and Earnhardt additions, theft system and finish protection was already listed in final price.) They gave me to finance man, Jerry Priest, I had shown all a letter from the VA showing I am 100% disable vet and am allowed in Arizona to purchase one license plate with no liew tax at time of registration. He said they could not do that, I should write them a check for amount of tag and get refund from MVD.

He was like dealing with a carnival hawker, never shut up, told me about kids, retirment, girl friend, divorce, never stopped talking and never went over contract paper work with me. Screwed again. He listed price of tag, $418 on contract AND used check I gave as down payment, no down payment was ever discussed or needed. Stupid me I WENT along, signed my life away, took Santa Fe and left.

Went following Monday to local MVD, asked about refund, they said dealer should have registered for me as 100% vet, emailed them back and asked them to do and if they had??? To see MVD. Nothing. Guess I paid twice for my tag, I really don't know.

I can't say what a lousy experience dealing with those weasels was. I would not send a dog to see Earnhardt. They are liars, con men and their word means nothing. Have just gotten survey in mail from Hyundai, will send it back and hope something happens.
