$3,000 rebate check / Tires for life

I purchased a 2008 Sonata here in Sept. Irst of all this process tool very long... Maybe 3 hours. I dont know why... They didnt have other customers at the time that I could see. Maybe its becasue I was trying to strike a deal with them..

I was told about the tires for life program. Alhough I was told that I needed to have any work completed at one of their shops. I was not told that I needed to follow Hyundai's recommended service schedule. Now, I always get my oil changed every 5,000 miles so I wasnt concerned about that. I thought "man free tires. Gotta get my oil changed anyway"... But they failed to tell you that the Hyundai's schedule was much more than that. I guess I shouldhave asked... But I didnt own another Hyundai so how would I know what that specific schedule is.

Anyway, this tires for 4 program is a big rip off. It would cost you thousands of dollars to follow Hyundai's program. Its much cheaper just buying your own tires when needed. However, this wasnt a reason I bought the car.

When I was purchasing the car, there is a $3,000 rebate. I was asked if I would like to subtract this from the purchase price of the car or simply receive a $3,000 rebate check. I decided to receive the check... No issues they say. I was told by their finance guy Tom (who is no longer their) that I would receive it in 3 weeks as it would come striaght from Hyundai... I said OK. So 3 weeks... 4 weeks. 5 weeks goes by. I call Tom (find out he doesnt work there any more) and get a new finance gentleman on the phone. I tell himmy story and he puts me on hold and says " this check will take 6 weeks, sicne it has only been 5 please give it atleast another week or longer for it to arrive." So I say OK... I wait 2 additonal weeks... No rebate check.

I call the salesman that I purchased the car from. He tells me to call Hyndai directly as it will come from them. So I call Hyundai. They tell me that the dealership needs to send papperwork to them, then Hyundai will send a check to the dealership and then the dealership will cut a check and send it to me. Furthermore, the gentleman from Hyundai Corp tells me he spoke to the general manager and he will need to make sure he didnt send me a check.in which the guy from Corp knows that they never sent a check to teh dealership... But hey whatever.

3 hours later, I get a call from the guy from Hyundai corp and he tells me I will receive the check in 3 business days. So hopefully need week I receive it.
Now this story just sounds like the dealership failed to send paper work to Corp... But... They gave me different stories... Kept telling me to wait for the check to arrive... Never did anything until I contacted Corp myself... Plus, I didnt mention that I had sent 4 e-mails to different individuals at the dealership and the only person who responded was the person who sold me the car... Nobody else (I guess) deemed this important enough to look into.

So moral of the story, this dealership makes me feel like they only car about the sale. Once its done... So are they. I typically hate to purchase new cars for this reason, but this was a company car so I had no choice.
