Someone "really" needs to do something about this company!!!
I was employed by Home Depot in and had to comute 87 miles one way to get to work 5 days a week. I was considered to be one of their most dedicated, and devoted employee's. I had always came to work on time, had repeatly made great reviews, and was
promoted to a racetrack manager!
As a racetrack manager I was able to make schedules for some of the associates, and decide what days of the week I wanted to be my off days. That decision was easy because for over 3 years I'd always had Monday's and Tuesday's off.
Following an accident that I'd had on the job which injured my wrist, I was called in the office by A higher manager that insisted I give-up my current position for a lower one. I was told that they needed me in another department. I refused to accept the other position, because I'd work so hard at getting the racetrack manager's one.
For several weeks I was seeing Home Depot's company doctor, and was finally dismissed. He concluded that I would have a lifetime medical, as long as I stayed in California.
I decided I needed to hire an attorney, just in case my wrist never gets well, and just as a precaution. To my surprise, after seeing my attorney for the first time and going to work. I was fired the same day!
I was completely devastated!!! I was called into the office by the manager that I'd previously seen and the human resource manager. They lied and said I was not supposed to be off on Monday and Tuesday. They said there was a posted schedule for me to follow, and I did'nt follow that schedule. Finally, they insisted that I missed 2 days no call and no show, and that was grounds for termination.
I feel that this action was taken due to my injury on the job, and it is difficult for me to fathom how such exemplary performance could be overlooked with a blink of an eye!!!
Home Depot is not at all the company most people belive it to be!!!
