We recently went to Home Depot to buy carpet. After getting a quote we were told we had to get pad at 5.00 a sq. Ft. We already had upgraded pad under our carpet which was only 4 years old. No pets no kids just 2 50 somethings who like to work on their home and always go to Home Depot. We went to the store to speak with the Manager and we got a song and dance about how all companies do things like making people play for things they don't need. I also asked where this is written in the policy and he could not give us an answer. I saw nothing like that in the store or in any paper work we received. The Manager did say he would check for us and we got a call today and we were told we could get the carpet with no warranties by Home Depot the installer or the carpet company. Nothing at all! I feel we went to get carpet we were not informed of the "must buy pad to buy carpet policy" and they lower the price of the carpet with a "special buy" deal then hit you with the extra price for a pad when I probably currently have a better pad. Is this legal? On top of this the employees at the store were rude the carpet manager the store manager and the women on the phone letting us no we can buy carpet but there will be no warranties all had a we don't need your sale attitude I'm glad Home Depot is doing so well they can chase consumers to the competition.
