Pump Is Great - Home Depot Warranty Is Poor
I purchased this pump at Home Depot in 2002 primarily because of the lifetime warranty. I was pleased with the performance until it finally failed. I contacted Flotec, and since I still had the original Home Depot receipt ($148), they told me to go to Home Depot and all would be taken care of there. After much runaround, as no one at the Ypsilanti, MI HD had a clue how to resolve the issue, the manager finally offered a store credit for the original purchase price of $148 plus tax. HD no longer stocks Flotec pumps with a lifetime warranty in the store, although my exact model is still available online with store pickup ($198). The manager refused to obtain a replacement for me, so the only alternatives I had were to accept the store credit, pay an additional $50 to obtain the same pump, which still carries a lifetime warranty, or use the store credit to get a lesser pump, which no longer has a lifetime warranty. So the bottom line with Home Depot is that every time you exercise your lifetime warranty, it will cost you. Not much of a lifetime warranty, is it?
