Fake Name Of Person Claiming To Be Tom Turney (A Real Person But A
Consumer Report

Saw a too good to be true rental on craigslist. It was supposedly in San Jose in a nice area. 1200./mo. I really wanted it...
We traded emails (my first clue should have been the bad English...) after a few personal questions (not ss# thank God) he told us we were the chosed ones and he would trust us with his home
He'd won some kind of bid on oil property in Malasia, there with wife, sent pictures (of God only knows who) of family, etc. He was really GGOOD and I was really STUPID.
He even emailed a copy of the deed, which really belonged to the person that really owned the home, but it was never empty. Talked a lot on the phone (pinging off countless towers) Very thick accent (turns out Nigerian)
which he said was Basque or something...
Started with dep and 1st mo. Rent, then talked to "wife" and she wanted 3 months up from, were to send keys, blah blah blah...
Same routine, send cash through Western Union-
with some American's name (supposedly associate abroad...) who was picking the money up. He played the game forever on the phone and forwarding fake documents, finally sent wierd steel skeleton keys, then never heard from him after he informed me he was in church at the time of the text... Very fakely spiritual "God Blesses You" type of talk, He was good. The biggest mistake was that I was warned and questioned by the Western Union people not to send money to someone I didn't know. Don't know what made me so hopeful, but Jeez... What a dope! Even worse, I had a friend that could have driven by the address in SJ and knowcked on the door to find out the truth before any money was sent. Yes, lessons learned the hard way.
