On June 21st I took a survey that popped-up while accessing a reputable site (Kaplan Medical) and was offered a gift of Lorelia cream for the shipping cost of $5.99. There was absolutely no indication on the page that I was consenting to a contract of any type. I agreed to the shipping cost and the cream arrived a few days later.
On July 7th my credit card was charged $104.71. On July 12th Lorelia Customer Service explained that when I clicked on the box to say yes to the $5.99 shipping cost, an electronic signature was generated binding me to a contract to receive their cream every month for $104 each month, until I cancelled.
The problem is that none of this was mentioned upfront. I insisted that the $5.99 charge was what I agreed to and that I wanted the $104 charge cancelled along with whatever contract they conjured-up without my knowledge.
Initially was offered a 50% waiver. On insisting further, was offered a full 100% reversal of the $104 charge.
Still waiting to see the reversal in the credit card account. The credit card company informed that it could take between 7 to 10 days to appear.
