Discover Card
Consumer Report

This is a very complicated issue that began back in Dec. Of 2012 with a dispute of charges on my elderly fathers credit card. The original charge was initiated by a company called Spotlite Radio aka Social Book LLC aka Ashford Radio Group. This collective presented themselves as a internet interview service and through questionable methods convinced my father to participate and with out his realization charged his credit card a substantial sum. Upon receiving his statement from Discover Card he immediately filed a dispute, this is were it becomes complicated. When Spotlite Radio became aware of his dispute, they state they refunded the charge and dropped any claim for moneys owed. Discover Card however refutes this statement. To further complicate maters, the business name charging him on his statement is a company he has never heard of, nor has Spotlite Radio, there only comment is that it is probably a subsidiary of the merchant service group that handles there charge account and as of yet will not provide evidence of such. Discover Card, despite claiming to have conducted an investigation, have only produced questionable documents presumably from the merchant service group. However, the company names given (both on the card statement and dispute documents) lead to complete dead ends, if Discover Card performed an investigation, it was very poorly done. The company on the credit card statement is listed as Social Book IDI Franklin Tn. The company responding to the dispute is listed as The IDI Corporation (the most respected name in telecommunications), P.O. Box 6602, Hagerstown, Md. 21741-6602, fax # 402-993-1840. The Chambers of Commerce of both Franklin, Tn. And Hagerstown, Md have no record of such businesses and there seems to be no real means to contact them. Discover Card did produce a document presumably from The IDI Corporation stating all the services they claimed to have performed for my father, none are valid or factual. This document was sent to Discover on February 4 and was signed by one Brain La Touch, President-IDI. When asked, Discover can not verify the validity of this document, it's author or the claims made, only stating that is good enough for them to proceed with the charge, despite admitting to being unable to directly contact the claimant or produce any further details. Discover Card states that despite the prompt dispute claim, both verbal and in writing, and the inability to directly communicate with The IDI Corporation (the most respected name in telecommunications) they will continue to assist this group in the fraudulent theft of my father, which seems quite contrary to their advertisement claims of treating the customer as we would treat ourselves. This battle has been going in for over six months now, and I intend to continue it with every avenue I can. My father is on a fixed income, retired teacher, widower, and a veteran. I have moved my home from back west to take care of him and also have limited income but intend to seek what legal help we can afford. I am also formatting a plea to the national news medias to assist in this endeavor. There are more minor details that can be said but I don't wish to complicate things any more than I already have, so I hope that this is sufficient for the time. Thank you for your time and consideration.
