I was at this Chevron gas station today, June 16. I was filling up my SUV's tank. While I was standing outside waiting for my gas tank to fill, I turned around for a second, and my gas tank was over flowing with gas. The gas was creating a large river of gas from my car to the pump next to me. I panicked and put the nozzle back on the gas pump and ran inside to inform the gas attendant. I told him the gas pump did not stop when it should have. His response was it's alright. I had a knot feeling as I walked back to my car. I called my dad for some advice. I didn't feel it was right to have to pay for gas that the gas pump had wasted all over the ground. I was also concerned with the safety for the people around me. I was also scared of igniting my own car. After consulting with my dad, I walked back inside to ask about the extra $22 worth of gas that was wasted. I only needed $20 of gas; however, I was charged $42. He told me that I should have been monitoring my gas pump and it was my fault that I shut off the sensors on the gas nozzle. I have pumps gas for a long time and I have never shut off any sensors. I have to admit; I did raise my voice. But who wouldn't if you were blamed for someone's mistake. I walked away from the situation, called my father once again. Who advised me to get the attendant's number and take photos of the gas stains on my car and the floor. I walked back inside and waited for three minutes for the attendant to even acknowledge me. I asked him for his number, and he responded with an attitude. I walked out and left. My father then called him and tried to reason with him. He, then, told my father that. He could do whatever the hell he wanted to do. I think that the worst thing about this situation was not the waste of gas. However, it was the irresponsible behavior. The wasted gas could have resulted in many horrible accidents. Igniting a car or a cigarette could have started a horrible fire. I will never return to this gas station. I will spread the word. It is dangerous and barely any of the pumps work anyways.
