In Feb. I stopped at Cenex Consumers Co-op gas station to fill up. I used my debit card, put the pump in my car, selected the gas grade and as I watched, when the pump registered 0.00 gals., the price registered 4 cents before a drop of gas was pumped. I figured a glitch happened and 4 cents is no big deal, I filled the tank and went inside to tell the cashiers for an FYI that their pump registered that 4 cents was added before I started to pump... They said sorry.
A few weeks ago I stopped at the same station and again, on a different pump, $00.02 was displayed on the price window before I started to pump. I went into the station and asked for the manager. He walked out to the pump with me, and I told him I had also had this same experience on a different pump at his station a few weeks ago. He said it must be a glitch, but when I said again that it happened on two different pumps he had no answer.
He seemed a little nervous and, on both instances, not offering to rectify the overcharge is to me a lousy customer relationship. I thought about reporting this to Cenex but I figured they'd sweep it under the rug. I also doubt that I am the only one to have had this happen at this station.
