We bought an Igloo Ice Maker in June 2012 and found out later that Curtis International actually manufactures the product.in February 2013 it stopped working. We called up Curtis and were given the same run around as many others. Troubleshooting over the phone upgrading the situation to a supervisor to no avail. We were forced to pay the shipping fee to repair a unit we had less than 8 months clearly still under Warranty.
Alright Fine we paid over 54 dollars in shipping and a 7 dollar check to Hyper Micro Systems which is the repair facility for Curtis International. I find it very strange that they cant repair the products they manufacture it has to go to a third party. From there they kept our Ice maker and we got it back in April. To our surprise again it was a different ice machine than the first one. We called to let them know and were told they were unable to repair the unit we shipped back so were given a refurbished unit in its place. Alright again as long as it works we just wanted to get through the year and we would never ever buy another igloo product. Unfortunately for us the ice maker lasted a little over a month and stopped working. We called Curtis international several times and once again the run around. Troubleshooting upgrading to a supervisor call back in a couple of days sorry there is nothing we can do you have to pay to ship the defective ice maker for it to be repaired or replaced. My argument here is why should I have to pay for shipping again when they clearly sent me another defective Ice maker. What happens if I pay shipping a second time and the same thing happens again very very dishonest company that's not worth the trouble or the money to deal with Just wanted to share hope something can be done and also hope to stop there warranty scam.
