About 3 months ago, I recieved an phone call from Ocwen. The person on the line said that my husband owed a debit on a credit card that was opened in 2001. He asked if my husband was available and I said he was not. The caller asked when my husband would be avalible and I said that following thurseday.
They called back and spoke with my husband. After giving my husband the information they demanded that my husband pay the debit immediately and begain asking for payment information. My husband refused and asked them to please send us a letter in writting stating what he owed. The employee said that three (3) letters had already been sent to our address. (Now my husband and I check our mail EVERYDAY because of my work and we did NOT recieve ANY letters from ocwen.)
When my husband said that we had not recieved any letter the man asked for our address. (um... If you sent us 3 "letters" wouldn't u have our adress?) The man asked my husband to confirm the address they had which was right. The man said he would send the letter "Certified" mail. Well the letter came 2 days later but not by certified mail, AND this letter looks very fake.
After getting off the phone with the man my husband and I started researching this company and came across "usacomplaints.com" and we were very shocked! (But we noticed that none of the reports were anything like our problem.) Anyways a couple days after the letter came they called again and talked to my husband. They again DEMANDED payment. And asked for an alternative way to get ahold of my husband (ie: work/cell #) my husband refused to give him that information and the man became very rude.
After arguing without any resolution my husband asked Ocwen not to call our resident anymore, and hung up the phone. Needless to say they call our residents everyday. 2 or more times and when I ansewer they hang up. (because they know I will not give them any of my husbands personal information) or there new favorite trick is to call and have an automated voice tell me to hold for the next rep. Then when they ansewer they hang up on me again. They are volating my consumer rights and we are now in contact with an attorney. If you have had them try to collect on an old credit card debit please respond. Thankyou.
