Discontinued service with AT&T. Received final bill of $36.84 and paid before due date but was turned over to collections. (NCO Financial Systems). When I called the collector I was told just to disregard the notice. I will not simply disregard as this may damage my credit score. Is it the policy of AT&T to turn discontinued accounts to collection assuming that the bill will not be paid? If so this practice needs to stop.
