They called my daughter this morning, stating that they were filing a civil suit against her on behalf of Bank of America. They said someone had ran up $14,000 on a credit card back in and had made payments up until 4 years ago. Apparently they called her ex husband first, and he gave them her info. The interesting thing is, my daughter has not worked since so she couldn't have made any payments, and the ex said he never did either. So, on top of the fact she didn't even have the credit card anymore to run up charges, we knew they were lying about the payments. Someone who would have fraudulently used the credit card would not have been making payments! They were rude and told her that it's been too many years, so the courts won't believe her that fraud was involved, so she needs to pay now. I knew immediately this was a scare tactic to just get her to pay them money, and that it's more than likely a scam! I told her to ignore them.
