Consumer Report

When I signed up for Directv in November of I had to pay a $300.00 deposit in order to get it. The programming package I chose included a $5.00 credit each month toward the equipment. Nothing was ever said that the $5.00 credit would be taken out of the deposit I paid. I recently had my Directv account closed because I moved and had no need of it anymore. I received a closing statement giving me a refund of $2.74 and an email stating that my refund had been processed and that I should be receiving a check for $2.74. I'm thinking, "Wait a minute! What about the deposit I paid for getting hooked up?" After spending 30 minutes trying to get connected to someone to talk to and being constantly hung up on, I finally got a woman who proceeded to explain to me that there was no refund coming from the deposit of $300.00 because the $5.00 credit I received every month was actually a debit to the deposit I paid. Now originally, as I recall, the deposit was because I had little, if any, credit history. No one ever said anything about that deposit being used every month in order to give me a 'deal'. It then occured to me that November to the present is something like 4-1/2 years, and that $5.00 a month for 4-1/2 years comes to $255.00. So they still owe me $45.00 that's left from that deposit. When I made this point to Directv, this service person put me on hold twice, never got back to me, then I got hung up on.

What gives!!!
