I went to HEB emergency room on the advice of my doctor. I called to verify that the hospital was a participating provider. After the visit which lasted from 3:30 to 11:30, most of that time spent in the waiting room, I received a bill for $617 from HEB Emergicare PA. The Allowable charge of $294.26 was paid by the insurance company. I'm now being told that the Doctors servicing the Emergency room are not part of the provider network. They want an additional $352.17 to be paid by me. The doctor only came into the room twice for about 5 min. I asked both the Hospital and insurance company if the hospital was a provider and neither the insurance company nor the hospital told me the doctors were not part of the provider network. I have talk to both the H E B PA office and the insurance company and neither are willing to make any changes. I think it reasonable to expect that the doctors servicing the hospital would honor the same insurance as the hospital. I am currently unemployed and looking for work, I feel this amount is extremely unreasonable for the service I received, I had no way of knowing that the Doctors servicing the emergency room were not part of the network and this is a very deceptive process for anyone having to use the emergency roon services. I think the bill should be adjusted to the allowable amount.
