International Auto of Orland Park (Land Rover dealership)
Consumer Report

My Ordeal With Land Rover of Orland Park, IL.
Need suggestions on plan of action... See my story below!

I drive a 2007 Range Rover... And always serviced it at this dealership the last 5 years, i have noticed some type of aloofness on the part of the management and service reps since IA group took it over. On November 28th, just after thanksgiving, the airbag check light came on and never went off, and since it was also due for service i took it in... Then my 3 month ordeal began... They claimed to diagnose the problem, recommended a fuel injector service as well, and gave me a bill of $2400, i authorized the repair... I didn't get my car back for 61/2 weeks, due to the "back order" for the parts to fix it... Granted i had a loaner the whole time. I picked up the vehicle after over 6 weeks, and was driving back from work the next day... Vehicle stalled twice, and the airbag light that took over 6 weeks to fix came back on. I drove straight to the dealer ship and dropped the car off! Another 2 weeks went by, then i got a call from the service rep, claiming he needed my authorization to take the whole console off, to get to the trouble spot... I asked why they need my authorization to fix a problem i already paid for and is yet to be fixed? Oh! He said, it will cost an additional $550 for the diagnostic! I could not believe my ears! I asked to speak with the GM, who was surprisingly combative, and confrontational! And to date has refused to return my call from messages i left for him! By now my car has been in their possession for 2 months. I refused to give the authorization... After 3 days the service rep called me, and rambled on about how much time and money they had expended researching the problem (what about the $2400 i paid already for a problem that's not fixed?) and what did i think was fair to pay them? Again i was flabbergasted at what i was hearing... I retorted what was FAIR was to fix the problem i paid for... And i was not going to pay a dime more! With an attitude the service rep said..."well i'll just have my GM deal with you". A few days later they called me and said sir, your vehicle is ready! I picked it up on Saturday Feb. 2nd and went home. I was taking my son to his basketball game on Sunday and the airbag light came on again!!! I could not believe my eyes! After almost 10 weeks in which i had driven my vehicle for less than 48hrs the problem was still not fixed! Little did i know the worst was yet to come! Since it was Sunday, I would wait till Monday morning to take it back! Monday morning at 6am i got in my car so i could drop it off before i head to work... It took me about half an hour to get my car started, something that had never happened in the 5 years i owned the car, when it eventually started, i drove straight to work since i was running late already! Just as i pulled into my parking spot, the engine stalled! I went to my office and didn't think about it again till it was time to go home, Feb 4th in Chicago was a snow/slush/sleet day... Car did not start, had to call a tow and paid $130 out of pocket for the tow to Orland Park, where the IA dealership was. Dropped off the vehicle, 2 days later they figured out a way to try to get more money out of me!"Oh! Mr. A. Your fuel pump is bad and by the way your battery is dead too... Before we can even begin to diagnose the airbag light situation, we'll have to at least get the vehicle to start" we can't do anything until then! By now i am completely exasperated! I called Land Rover USA to report this scam... Because this whole situation does not pass the smell test! They have not been any help either! How can the fuel pump of a vehicle i have only driven for less than 2 days in the 3 months it's been couped up in the dealership all of a sudden develop a bad fuel pump??? Of course to get the repairs done, it would cost me another $1500. I don't know why i'm being treated in this manner when all i want is the repairs i paid for 3 months ago!!
