My computer crashed and I needed help fast. I was a couple of hours away from teaching and needed my computer to work. I googled Apple support on my phone number (I was too frazzled by the computer crash to remember their phone number) and called what I thought was Apple support and got help by Oscar, who told me that I had reached Apple support and that my Apple care was expired (once he had asked me for the serial number) and did I want to renew it for $250 and get help right then? Yes I did! I gave them access to my computer because I thought they were Apple. They installed an anti virus (if that's even what it is) and did who knows what else. When I call MyTechHelp they say that they did not mislead me and that it will take 10 to 15 business days to review my call (which is more than enough time for a tech company to edit the call log). The number I found on google no longer exists (877-923-7154) and when I call it, I get re-routed to Apple. MyTechHelp says it is one of their numbers, but they do not know why I keep getting rerouted to Apple. A technician finally told me that they reroute billing questions to Apple and that when I signed up for the membership they were supposed to give me a separate number for billing. Shady right? I wish I had noticed at the time.
No one at MyTechHelp is willing to help or answer my questions. They keep giving me the run around. I know now that I was scammed, but at the time truly believed I was talking to an Apple representative.
