Consumer Report

My son Googled apple iPhone repair and the first search result was for apple. Mytechhelp.com. He automatically assumed the website was apple's website, and called the phone number he obtained from that site. The person answering the phone pretended to be Apple Tech support, and advised us that our warranty was expired. He told us he could repair the phone for a fee of $59.99 so we gave them our Visa card number. They sent us a shipping label through our email that we were supposed to take along with the phone to our nearest FedEx location. When we printed out thew label we realized that the address it was being sent to was not for Apple at all, but was for MyTechHelp Repair in Margate, Florida. We searched Google again and found a number for Apple. The Apple representative told us we had been scammed, and that we still have six months left on our warranty. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and am about to file one with the Federal Trade Commission as well. The apple representative took the companies info since they were pretending to be Apple, and also advised me to contact my local law enforcement. The scam company not only charged me the 59.99 which they said was nonrefundable, but they also charged me a fee of $5.00 which I was not advised of while talking to them.
