On January 2, I contacted Verizon regarding the Triple play promotion they were running. I inquired if it was possible to receive the the promotion even though i did not need service until 1/29. I was informed i could. The representative then asked me for my name, date of birth and social security number. I then told the representative that i would call back at the end of the month that i could not give them the social number because i was purchasing a house and my mortgage was not finalized and that running my credit report would effect my credit score and could effect my mortgage. The representative then told me that the social security number was just for verifying my identity and that if i could just answer a few questions he could be the order through without the social security number. He then asked me out of three addresses which had i lived prior, and a few other questions. He then placed my order giving me the order confirmation number of PA 00185812955 and set up an install date of 1/29.
On January 26th my Mortgage broker Ed Bamford of Cole Taylor Bank informed me that my credit score had dropped from 646/643 to 634/617and that the mortgage could not be approved. I was confused and could not understand why when i had made no purchases, applied for no credit cards or made and had been living on my wife's paycheck from the beginning of December so nothing would effect the mortgage application.
On January 29th. I received a copy of my credit report from Cole Taylor bank. On December 10th Federated Lending my initial Mortgage broker ran my credit report before me giving them a check on 12/19 for the mortgage application. The next authorized Credit check from Cole Taylor bank ran on 1/25 was ran / in expectation of us closing on 1/28. ON 1/2 Verizon Communication Member-NO 1945532 ran a credit check. IT is THIS credit check that dropped my credit score and lost me my mortgage.

$185.00 loss of pay for inspections on 12/17
$495.00 Mortgage application fee 12/19

$500.00 - pressure test of oil tank - Classic oil 12/22
$182.40 - loss of pay for my wife - for oil tank inspection.
$1321.00 - additional fees for storage of furniture and expenses incurred from 1/28 till 2/14 while trying to find another place to live.
Now we must RENT a house for a year before looking for a house to own, Our monthly rent payment is more than our mortgage payment was going to be and we have additional fees in renting a house that were included in our Mortgage payment - such as insurance. Also now we run the risk of out interest rate being higher than the 3.25% we were locked into with a FHA house.
