This door to door art company offers the worst oppurtunity in America. The president of the company's name is is Lew Shwiller a 65 yr old peddler who has hustled people to make him money for 40-50 years. They recruit people all over the country running ads in the paper saying Art, Music, Money, Rock N Roll atmosphere, Hippies with a Flow, Misfits and odd balls, Fast-growing art company needs 6-8 positions filled immmediatley, salary 500a week.
But what they don't tell you is that they go door to door, business to business selling cheap artwork illegally. They don't report the sales tax they collect, most of the sales reps don't even pay taxes or aquire peddlers permits to cold call the homes and business's they go to. When you call the ad the secretary's in the company are trained to pull you in it is their job to have what they call a 90% phone pull, meaning they pull in atleast 90% of the people that they talk too for an interview or thier not doing thier job right.
Every afternoon they fill their offices with as many people as they can for interviews. The offices are usually located in small business parks in major cities across the U.S. Like L.A., Chicago, Seattle, San Antonio, Alanta, Boston, San Fransico, and San Diego the offices range from 1,500sqft to 4,000sqft. They are all run the same, loud music playing all day, so loud you can't here what anybody is saying you have to yell to talk.
Once you come in for an interview you are given an application that looks like it has been printed a million times, and it probally has But the application is just a waste because they practically hire everybody who will work for them, unless I guess the applicant is just plain crazy.
As soon as you finish the application you are invited into the branch managers office. The interview is a real joke its more designed to get you excited about the job then it is for them to find a employee. The tell you that you can make a 6 figure income in this business that you get paid cash everyday (which I think is illegal) that the company takes exotic trips, they basically throw as much bullshit at you as they can to get you to come back for what they call a second interview.
The second interview consist of riding in a car full of artwork with one of the sales "managers" cold calling business's and homes. They give every person they talk to a sales pitch "Hi I'm with an art design firm we have some great artwork were letting go 80% off only 40 bucks come look" Alot of the people they talk to get really pissed off and tell them "no soliciting", "please leave now we don't want any artwork" The sale managers tresspass on peoples property, and ignore no soliciting signs as they train you on the job.
I asked my trainer if he had a permit to sell door to door he didn't even know what I was talking about. Whatch out for these ads in the paper. Do not work for this company. Sales organizations like this one are a sure way to get yourself in alot of trouble maybe even arrested for peddling door to door. After about 3 hours of watching the sales "manager" go door to door I told him that this was the worst job interview I had ever been on. Surprisingly he was shocked to here me say that and still tried to convince me that selling artwork door to door was perfectly legal, and that I should work for this company, I walked away laughing at him.
