No commitment? Think again. It costs more to cancel your membership than it does to pay it out. They keep you for a year no matter what they say.
Judgement Free zone? No way! They discriminate against older people. The staff is rude and they tell you to MOVE out of their way if they happen to be headed in the same or opposite direction as you. Example: I walked into the gym one day. The girl working there was moving the floor mats that led from the front door to the desk. Stepping in you HAD to step on the mat... There was no way to step around it or over it. I stepped on the mat, noticed she was "arranging" it, before I could step off of it... She SCREAMED at me to get the "f" off the mat! As I walked passed she mumbled to one of the other workers "f'ing" old people! Excuse me? I was 49 yrs old at the time. I've tried ever since to cancel my membership and they said I had to go INTO the club and discuss it with the person who "offended" me. Another time within that same week, I went in to Tan. The young man at the counter asked to see my tanning goggles. As I was searching my bag for them (they were in there) he went on to infom me that I could go to jail if I requested tanning and didn't have goggles, and told me that at the very least Planet Fittness would take "legal action" against me! WTF? When I found my goggles I just showed them and walked out. I never returned. I even asked to be transferred to another Planet Fitness across town and they wouldn't do it. My husband and I have both tried to cancel but now it's on our credit report as they wouldn't take our cancelation without us going IN and doing it. We had moved 3000 miles away several months after this started... I was not flying back to cancel my membership. I requested to send them the cancelation fee via certified mail and they REFUSED my payment. I even tried it and it was RETURNED! Planet Fitness sucks! Then when we moved back to the area a couple of months ago, I requested to continue our membership at the other local gym... And they also refused this. Don't join planet fittness... They will ruin your credit and lie to you!!!
