Eturn/exchange experience - aggressive customer service

We just purchased Chicco Cortina KeyFit Travel System - Vega for $299.99 at Target in Serramonte, Daly City CA. When we got home, we opened the box and discovered that the item inside was of different color from what should have purchased. The next morning, we went to the store to exchange it for the correct product. When the customer service rep (Erica, she was rude and unprofessional) checked it we were told that they don't carry that product (we didn't even know that it was entirely a different brand and a lot cheaper that we've purchased, it was for $139.99). Erica tried to implicate that someone must have switched the item inside the box and told us that they are apparently very careful when something is returned to them and they won't be able accept it for return/exchange since they don't carry that brand. We were also told by another manager named Melvin that they need to review the camera when we purchased the item to make sure that we received it in the same condition as we are presenting it to them on that moment. After several minutes, an employee called on their radio and we heard that apparently they in fact carried that product. Melvin, who I asked if I can talk to a higher manager, says there's no other manager in the store beside him, he was talking to us about the situation then disappeared and didn't come back to apologize. Another manager (Kristi) handled and resolved the issue and told us to come back this Friday to pick up the correct item.
