I bought legalzoom's highest level of products and customer service for $1016 - simply to create a S corp. The regular cost was supposed to be about $300, but I wanted piece of mind so I got their highest level of support. A year later, my accountant says "Why do you have a chapter C corp? What happened to your chapter S?" I called legal zoom and they said that they sent me the documents to file the chapter S, but that I didn't send them back. When I asked why they didn't follow up and where the tracking # for the package was, they said it was my fault for not sending in the proper documents and it was now too late. When I asked again for the tracking #, they said it was sent and ignored me. When I asked about their "Peace of Mind Review%u2122", they said it was too late. Yes, it was my fault because Legalzoom did not do their review... That is the customer service I got for an extra $700. It's my fault for not filing the proper documents? What did I pay them for?!? So, I had to file my taxes as a chapter C and got double taxation - costing me $20k more in taxes! How can I hire someone to file the proper documents and I get blamed for not filing the documents?!? Get a CPA or a lawyer. Trying to save money with legal zoom with get you in trouble or cost you $.
