My wife noticed a charge on our JCP credit card statement for Fun family Rewards for $9.95 yesterday. She had noticed it before, but didn't question it because she thought it was connected to the JCP customer rewards program. She wasn't in the store on the day of the charge so she called the toll free number. Their representative, Leah, told her that I had signed up for the program when I ordered something on-line in March. I have made several on-line purchases but don't remember ever signing up for anything that would cost me $9.95/month. As a result we have probably paid nearly $600 for something we didn't want, didn't know we had and never used. Leah told me that I had probably received a welcome package explaining the program and how to cancel right after we signed up. When I told her that I never received such an email, her response was maybe it went into your junk email! I have never received any communication from the company on the program either by email or by US mail in the past 5 years. Leah agreed to refund 4 months of the charges then tried to sell me more. I tried to call JCP to see what I had bought in 2007 that triggered the rip-off and to complain about the program. They could not go back that far, but did tell me that they dropped the program two years ago. JCP was one of our favorite stores, but we are very seriously considering never shopping there again.
