I purchased two E Machine Computers on Nov 28 for our two children. The computers were advertised to retail for $299.99 after rebates. After going to three Best Buy Stores we finally found two of the machines in South Dallas. I waited in line for over 2 hours to make the purchase. I also purchased the K-Byte memory upgrade. Upon completeing the transaction the sales clerk went over thr rebate forms for the two machines with me and showed me which labels to attach, the proper forms to submit etc...
Not Once did the sales assoc or the register assoc tell me that only one rebate would be honored per address.in fact they were very misleading in assuring me that they had two of the machines and to be patient waiting in line the two plus hours. My wife and I filled out the paperwork correctly, sent the correct labels and forms.
We received the first batch of rebates successfully waiting for the second. After 8 weeks I called the rebate center and was informed that the second rebates were denied as only one rebate per address was allowed. They said that if I had used a second address the other would have been paid. Of course no one notified me of the denial - I had to call. "It wasn't there policy". I asked them to use my mothers address only to be told it was too late as I had already listed one address.
What a rip off! I was told to contact the store manager which I did only to be told there was nothing he could do (surprise).
All of the contacts I had in Best Buy that day knew I was purchasing the two computers yet noy one explained the "more than one address" issue.
When policy comes before customer I shop somewhere else.By the way, in reviewing our purchases over the last ten years from Best Buy in Dallas they total over $6,000.00.
