Scott Tsujita, Philippe Tartavull Hypercom Terminal's Dirty Little Secret

The short version:

If you drop or bump a Hypercom terminal too hard, it will think it's being "tampered" with and lock itself. It takes a simple code to fix it, but if you're past the 1 year warranty, you'll have to pay $500 for a new one. And don't think that you're smart and try to reset it - It takes special software that only the vendors have. Computer fraud at it's finest.

Don't give thees crooks a dollar. You know, Quickbooks has an app that let's you swipe credit cards on your iPhone - I think I'm going to get that before I give these crooks another dollar.

Thanks,
United Ca
