Club Pogo
Internet Fraud

Approximately 1 1/2 years ago, I was taking care of my brother and sister-in laws dogs while she was in Spain visiting her daughter and my brother was on the road as a truck driver. I was on my brother's computer playing pogo, which I have been a member for many years. I saw the $ come up, which meant I won the jackpot of $4999, plus it was doubled. When contacting Pogo, they informed me that my computer must have gotten stuck, which was not true because the computer had been working just fine. What could I do, I knew they were not going to send me my money. Well, I have been tracking Pogo Complaints and no one has done one darn thing about it and I believe it is about time someone steps in and does for the citizens of this beautiful Country USA. I have filed a complaint with the FBI, however, I do not know where it is going to get me because I have noticed that other pogo club members have done the same thing. Now Pogo no longer gives the big jackpots, you don't even know how much you could possibly win and if they will give it to you at all. I sending you just a few of the complaints that I have copied for your records and maybe if you have the ability to do something about Pogo, you can contact these members.

I have been a club pogo member now for 5 years and last week I went into Spooky Slots to play. Well, I hit Jackpot! Then I was taken to another screen, which was completely blank, and the JP is still going. My game also froze. I went to winnings and to no avail not showing. I emailed pogo support about this issue, but their response was yes they have had problems with this game and prizes being issued, but will not do anything about my jp winnings. All they say is they will investigate it. I had the whole room jumping for joy for me when I won. I about fainted when this happened only to be let down, big time!!! Pogo is fake and a scam! They do not payout like they claim and I think this is false advertising. The jp is still up there. I think they get people to pay them to acknowledge that they have won a jp so that is good advertising for them. It makes me sick!!! I think anyone who has had a jp complaint against them should look into a possible class action lawsuit against them. They have the most stupid tech people working for them who do not know a d*n thing! Their fees just keep getting higher and higher every year, and that is not fair to poor people like myself. This is rude and unjust to us. I am looking into a class action for this. Anyone wanna jump on? Email me! Thanks for your service!

Dear loyal Pogo.com players,

I feel that I must share my most recent enlightenment on pogo.com.

I have been a paying member of pogo.com since 2001. On April 18 I hit the JACKPOT WINNER on my spin! I was in total shock. My win was doubled and maxed out at their cap, $4999.00 (please check my pogo id KathyMcD68 and click on winnings, there you'll see the “win”).

Two months after winning I emailed pogo asking where/when this win would arrive. Much to my disappointment, I was told I had cheated and would not receive any prize at all! WOW, what a blow, especially since I had never cheated. I immediately asked for documentation on when and where this “cheat” had occurred and instead was informed by pogo that they will not tell me, nor do they know how I cheated. They also informed me (when asked) that there is no one who audits these decisions (an unbiased 3rd party). To add to the insult, they also don't notify anyone when their win is pulled! I had to ask what was going on, that was the only reason I knew!

After a few other emails to other winners I have found that several others have “lost” their wins also! I found this quite interesting and wanted to share with you in case you had high hopes of winning from pogo.com.

Please note – I love the games at pogo. I really enjoyed playing them and the chat. However, due to what I feel is a scam, I wanted to let everyone know that even if you have “won” on pogo, they have the option to not pay out but simply state you used an automated playing device and will not give any details to back it up, and you have now forfeited your prize!

I'm copying all the correspondence from pogo.com (run by EA Games now) so you can read for yourself exactly what they say about taking my $4999 away. I've left it just as it was written, spelling errors and all! The last email in the chain is actually the first so please scroll down and read up.

Thanks for reading. I feel better warning people about their practices.

Hello,

Thanks for cotnacting us.

You claim cheating was done on this account
- Yes

You refuse to state when and how this was done.
- Yes, we do not provide details such as when. And we do not know exaxtly how as there are a variety of methods for which we only monitor the activity.

You are the sole claimaint on this incident, with no outside/third party audit to back you up.
- We do not have a third party auditor outside of the company reviewing such information.

By using this unsubstantiated claim, you do not have to pay the $4999.00 prize that you advertised to everyone that I had won.
- Whether or not it is unbsubstantiate may be a matter of opinion.

I replied that no cheating ever happened and you ignore it and provide no possible recourse or appeal.
Either someone hacked into my account, or you are actually the cheat here - I don't know which.
You have forced me to file an FTC complaint / fraud charge. I am also forced to warn others of your dubious business practices.
- It has been our expierience that many people that we inform of such violations do find that someone else that they know that used their account did use an automated device or some other method of cheating that was the cause of the prize forfeiture. We do not know what individual may have initiated the method or cheating or what computer it may have occurred on. We only monitor the interaction with our game and servers with the account. When we recieve disputes we review the data used in the audit to ensure that the data used to determine the forfeiture was valid.

Hello,

In many cases where the primary user is not aware of the use of such automated devices they had allowed others to use their account. Sometimes this is for someone to help them get a badge or tokens.in many of those cases the person sharing someone eles's account is the one that use the automated device with or without the knowledge of the primary user. Such an occurrence could have been at any time in any game unrelated to the game and time in which the prize was won. As far as the details of the date, time and what game, we are not able to provide that information due to the sensitivity of the information.

Customer 06/16 12:54 PM
Hi - not sure my last comment made it thru but I would request the date/time/game this "automatic playing device" was used as I have NEVER used one and feel this is an extremely unfair decision. I would like the documentation to back this up. I'm not even aware of how to use an automated playing device and I know I don't have one installed on my macintosh. How do I have this false claim removed from my account?

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, this account has used an automatic playing device in the past, and thus the prize badge has been removed.in many of those cases the person sharing someone else's account is the one that used the automated device, with or without the knowledge of the primary user. Such an occurrence could have been at any time in any game and is unrelated to the game and time in which the prize was won.

In any scenario, we do hold the account owner responsible for the actions taken on an account. You are welcome to create a new account, and as long as that account does not ever use an automatic device, it should be eligible for prizes in the future. Please take care to always log out of Pogo when you are in a public place, and never, ever give anyone access to your account.

Sincerely,

Mark

Hi - I was just wondering where my jackpot badge/win went? Thanks.

Recommended:
No

I won an instant prize of $5.00 on o1/31. I immediately responded to their e-mail to fill in the winner's form... Which I did (all within 1/2 hour of winning). They issued me the winner's badge which I put up by my name. We all joked in the room about how to spend it.
On 02/15/08, I was sent an e-mail staing they had detected that I had used a "cheat" program or an "auto-run" program. I immediately responded that I did not and have never used such a thing. I demanded proof. I was sent the generic letter refusing. I then asked for them to release the information under the Federal Freedom of Information Act (FIOA) - they have refused to do so.
I then filed on-line a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the California Attorney General's Office, and the FCC.
I encourage all falsely accused Pogo winners to contact these offices. They do take this seriously and they need as many scammed Pogo player winners as possible. It makes the case stronger.

Jackpots are fake!
Complaint Rating:
On June 12 I won a Jackpot for $3,611.12 and they won't pay. I have never used any automated device to play any games. I wouldn't know where to find one or how to use it. I don't cheat!!! According to Pogo they don't have to payout the winnings because I used this type of software or device. That is low, I have been a member for years and have never cheated on any game. Please read attached response I received when I asked what happened to my Jackpot...

Ive read all the rerports about pogo and ive seen all the so-called pogo defenders come to the plate for pogo. Pogo is a total scam. I have hit several jackpots and have never been paid, but i or you who are reporting it here are not the only ones this is happening to, there are many others. To tell you the truth, most of the people in these rooms are sick of pogo and will say so as they are playing the games. Let me give you good folks a word of advice, stop going to the site, block it from even being accessed from your pc. Continue to tell others pogo is a scam, blog on your own sites, like msn, yahoo, just get the word out. As for all the people coming here to defend pogo, they are either employees, (flunkies) or the few $10 winners. Lol. And ask the question, why are you coming to rippoff.com to defend a company if you have never been ripped off? Did you wake up in the middle of the night (bad dream) " omg pogo is being slammed on rippoff.com " most of you defending pogo are liars or you wouldnt have come here in the first place. If your wondering what you can do about pogo, i can answer that question for you... Nothing. You can do nothing and they know it. The only thing any of us can do is to stop using the site and tell more and more about it. I rented a billboard where i live...$100 a month and im telling literally thousands of people about pogo being a rippoff. You can run ads for less than $12 a month to get the word out. Ive done that as well, i figure if im going to get the word out, im going to do it right, hell i got the money. Hell i even paid my mom to quit going to pogo, whatever she paid for club membership, i doubled it. Its not about the money, its about yet another company allowed to rippoff the amercian public as the government sits back and does nothing. Let me tell you folks, you have to be willing to stop using pogo if you want a change. One more thing before i go, pogo has been using fictitious screen names and accounts for payouts, yes its nothing new, all game sites do it. Do you honestly believe pogo is going to hand out a double prize of $4999 every week or month? NO!!! They are not. One way to catch this is to add a winners name, someone with winnings more than 50 bucks. You will never see this name lit up on your list and you will never find the name in a room. Believe me folks pogo is going to burn you as sure as your reading this. Btw, according to one persons report here, about 80% of the winners are non paying pogo customers, why pay for it, if its free? Concerned chattanooga, Tennessee

Hello, my name is eric:
i have been a club pogo member for a little over 8 years, during this time they advertise that you can win 4999.00 dollars, the gameing systom picks the recipient, over a month ago i ws playing online pogo, with my brother-n-law, wife and son were in the living room, where i was playing, watching tv. When the jackpot showed up on my screen i was shocked, not only was it a 4999.00$ jackpot it was also a double jackpot meaning i had won 10,000.00, i was so excited i showed everyone listed above, i proceeded in printing the applications and the paperwork to turn in to get my money. I have been playing for 8 years and paying to be a member. Prior to this aprx 2 years i had several accounts, which is legal, instead of keeping all the acounts i proceeded in takeing al the tokens i had in all my acounts and put them in one account. This took aprx two years with help from family membors in hand delivering all my tokens into one acount giving me 1 billion tokens, which should not matter if you win! I faught with ea games for a month and kept getting the runnaround, finally they disqualified me because i had soo many tokens! I spent money i did not have because i was depending on my winningsafter a month of typing everyone i could at ea games they finally dissqualified me because i had so many tokens, which should not matter you can win with 100 tokens, you are chosen at random. When i was turned down i did some investigaring on ea games and pogo, to my suprise, i found a woman that it happened to, she has made her own web page on how pogo cheats people out of winnings, which is against the gameing rules, the only way you can be disqualified is if you were useing an auto machine, which i was not and they can tell if you were, i also have three witnesses that wqere watching tv when i was playing, i was soo excited i showed them, i also printed the documents needed to claim my prize. This woman who hass made her own websight has 187 people who were denied for no good reason, she has an attorney and she was supposed to give the attorney my name etc. I have not heard from anyone, and am at a loss, my family is suffering because they did not give me my prize and said if i were to win again i would be denied due to the fact i have soo many tokens. I have been a paying member for 8 years, and they are either paying themselfs the winnnings or just do not want to give people wht they win as far as money, if i had won 10.00 you can bet i would have already been payed. Please help us if you can, i know there are more than 200 people who are going through what me and the 187 people who won the big jackpot of 4999.99, and some like me who got a double jackpot. I do not know where else to turn, its like, if you were to go to a cassino and put 20.00 into one of they're machines and won the big jackpot and them telling you i am sorry but that machine is out of order. It is against the gaming rules, and pogo advertises there jackpots, who won, and it had nothing to do with how many tokens you carry. Please help, give advise or check into this company, i wil keep pursuing this even if i have to get my own attorney, i wil publicly make it known, through the enternet, paper or news.
Sincerely eric
